Roles

What roles are and how they control access in the APOA Congress platform.

Roles

Roles control what each person can see and do in the platform. Every user is assigned a role, and that role determines which collections they can access, whether they can create or edit records, and which parts of the interface are visible to them.

The APOA Congress platform has a number of roles that reflect the different teams involved in running the congress — reviewers, program staff, communications, support, and platform administrators. A reviewer, for example, can see and score abstracts but cannot access attendee data. A support agent can manage tickets but not edit the program.

Roles are managed in Settings → Access Control. When you add a new user to the platform you assign them a role at that point. If someone's responsibilities change, updating their role immediately changes what they can access.
